1. Is sunless tanning safe? Yes, it is! The FDA approved Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a sugar cane derivative that results in the tan, for safety in 1973. When applied to the skin, DHA penetrates only the top layer of skin. It does not absorb into the body or bloodstream.

2. How does it work? Sunless tanning products work by creating a response with the top layers of skin. Dihydroxyacetone or DHA sugars react naturally with the protein in your skin to create that tan that tanners are seeking. Summer Silhouette product, Fake Bake, uses a DHA self-tanner and a bronzer blend to give you the streak-free golden tan you want, no matter what your skin type. It also contains aloe and moisturizers to keep your skin healthy and golden brown, so you can look good and feel great!

Thanks to advances in technology, there's no longer any reason for any person to go through life looking pale and unhealthy.

3. Do your products contain alcohol? No. Alcohol is very drying to the skin and can cause irritation. Furthermore, alcohol intensifies degradation of DHA and thus shortens the shelf life of the product. 4. What should I wear when having a spray tan? Many people do not wear anything. The room is completely private, so tanning in the nude is perfectly acceptable. However, if “baring all” isn’t for you, we suggest you wear as little as you feel comfortable in, to ensure a full body tan. At Summer Silhouette, we also provide our clients with the option of wearing disposable underwear/garments and protective wear to ensure you feel comfortable and still achieve your desired results.

5. I always burn and never tan, under the sun. Will spray tan work for me? Absolutely! This we guarantee. If you are someone with ‘skin type 1’, who always burns in the sun and therefore has never been able to tan, with Summer Silhouette, you can finally achieve the look you have always aspired to. One of our expert consultants will work with you to outline your options and help you choose the product that is best suited to your skin type and desired look.

6. Will your products stain my clothing or other items? No! Since organic colour pigment is not a stain or a dye, it will not permanently stain and will wash out of any synthetic material. Many focus testing groups used during our product’s testing phase found that the colour could be removed more easily than make-up on collars. No pre-laundering treatments were required.

7. How long will it last? This is one of our favourite questions! We boast that our product needs to be applied on the average of only once or twice a week. Of course, you will determine your own maintenance schedule. Remember, you are in control; you can deepen your tan simply by applying more of the product and extend its life by moisturising generously each day.

8. Will my tan wash off? NO! Remember that the organic colour is for application purposes. The unique Dihydroxy (DHA) is what creates your tan. Just like a tan from the sun, the tan from this product will not wash off because of its new breakthrough formulation! Note: DHA is not permanent, so it will fade just as any suntan does, which is why a weekly application is recommended to maintain your tan.

9. Do your products contain sunscreen or SPF? Our products do not contain sunscreen or SPF. So many of our customers want different degrees of sunscreens or sun blocks that it would be impossible to satisfy all of them. It is important that if you are being exposed to UV light, you still protect your skin, even if your new tan makes you may feel that you do not need to.

10. What about swimming with the product? Again, we emphasize that our products fade but does not wash off. For the very best results, follow the instructions given by your Summer Silhouette spray tanner or those on the product you purchase. It is recommended that you do not swim immediately after application of the product; this would result in waste. Instead, swim after your morning rinse.

11. Are there any harmful effects of this product? Dermatologists will enthusiastically agree that tanning with a dihydroxy formulation is much safer than tanning for prolonged hours in the sun. The Summer Silhouette product range was chosen extremely carefully and product manufacturers are very conscientious about safety, health, and environmental issues. Our product range includes organically based products that ensure a safe tan and promote healthy skin. Our products use no animal testing because they contain no harmful ingredients that would have required extensive animal testing.

12. How long does it take to dry? Because the level of moisture in each skin type varies, drying time will also vary slightly. In general, we have found that 20 minutes is sufficient time for our products to dry.
